Update from home

Yesterday my doctor released me to go home.  I had to make sure I could walk around the hospital a bit and use the restroom.  Before we left an intern for my Plastic Surgeon stopped by to redo my dressing.  It was a guy and a very cute guy.  So, that was a little awkward, but he was very nice.  Kevan even asked me after he left if I thought he was cute and was it weird having a guy redo my bandages.  lol!   Later on I found a weird lump in the top of my right side near my collar bone.  This freaked me out and I thought maybe it was my expander that had gotten out of place.  Thankfully, "cute intern" stopped by again and told me it was just one of the drain lines.  Since my skin there is so thin it is really visible.  Not sure why it isn't like that on the other side.  I was glad to hear when I get my drains out the big cord/lump won't be there anymore.  [Update: once this drain was removed this lump went away.  Yay!]

Kevan's cousin sent me a wonderful care package.  Since she is a breast cancer survivor she knew exactly what I would need.  It was so thoughtful.  In the package was a great pair of pajamas that buttoned from the front.  If I would've turned sideways you would've thought I was pregnant, but it was just my 4 drains sticking out.  I was so glad to have these PJ's to wear home.  I'm still wearing them.  :o)

Even though it took 2 hours, the ride home felt great because it was warm out and the sun was shining.  I felt pretty good.  Once we got home Kevan got me settled on the bed and I fell asleep.  When I woke up 2 hours later I was in a ton of pain.  They were supposed to wake me up to take my pain medication and they forgot.  I think it might be the most pain I've ever been in.  It was pretty bad.

I didn't sleep very well last night.  I would sleep about 2 hours and then wake up in pain.  I didn't want to bother anyone else (since they were all sleeping) so I would try my best to get out of bed so I could walk around a little.  Getting in and out of bed is the hardest right now.  I dread it every time.

Also, we think one of my drains (#4) is not working properly.  Kevan will be calling the doctor once they open to ask them if we need to worry or not.

Ok...this is about all I can type right now.  Medication is kicking in and my brain is getting cloudy.  ZZZzzzzzz!

  1. I'm glad you are home. Take it easy and don't do too much. Also don't worry about bothering others right now. Just take one day at a time. :) I'm Praying for you every day. And always remember you have God with you.

  2. Okay, everybody, just want to say, we keep telling her to BOTHER us, and that she is doing too much, and shouldn't get out of bed or up or down by herself. She's always been way too independent. Mom

  3. Jayde, you look FANTASTIC in those PJ's--and you said you don't have any style!!!!
My main prayer for you the past couple of days has been directed at your pain--that you wouldn't have any. I've been declaring it, actually--maybe I didn't declare loud enough LOL!! Anyway, declaring, in Jesus' name, that healing manifest now and pain be gone. I always add that it doesn't matter what the symptoms are (I know it FEELS like it matters), that God's word is higher than any symptoms we're experiencing presently--that the healing has already taken place.

    Love you bunches, JOY
